Life-A-Thon FAQs
What is Life-A-Thon? Life-A-Thon is a fundraising event for WELS Lutherans for Life to support its Pregnancy Care Centers in Milwaukee. For more information about the organization, please visit www.ALife2.com. When is Life-A-Thon? Our target date is the second Saturday in May. The day before Mother's Day. We recommend that our participants set their fundraising goal around that day and fundraise for about 4 weeks. Who can participate? The walkers and runners can be anywhere in the world, Virtually! Some participants are serious runners, some are casual, and some participate with their friends or family. Everyone participates because of their love for LIFE and to support a cause they deeply care about. How much does it cost to participate? $25 individual, $60 family (parents and their children) Where is Life-A-Thon? Online, with your family and/or friends, through your Social Media community, and our Facebook Life-A-Thon Event. How do I get sponsors/pledges? Check out our page “Tips for Getting Pledges” Do I collect the money? Sponsors can donate to your team easily online once your team is registered. They simply need to choose a member of your team from a list on the site. Other pledges should be collected and mailed to WELS Lutherans for Life, 8501 W Lincoln Ave, West Allis, WI 53227. How do I ask someone to sponsor me and who will do it? Simply ask everyone you know “Will you sponsor me?” You’ll be surprised at the number of people who will support you. Some possibilities: parents, siblings, cousins, friends, neighbors, clubs, coworkers and staff, shopping clerks, etc. Remember they can do it easily in person or through the link above. How much can I raise? There is no limit - you’ll be surprised how easy it is! Nine out of ten people will say YES! The more people you ask, the more help we will be able to provide. It is helpful to set a goal and share it with friends and family. PRIZES: There are three ways to qualify for Prizes!! 1. Individually (or by family) by raising more money than other participants. 2. How does my school/church qualify for the “silver sneaker” for raising the most additional funds? When people from your school/church register online they simply need to mark your school/church in the appropriate box. Any pledges must be marked as going towards your school/church team total. The tallying will be done the week of Memorial day and the winners will be announced in Early June. All cash, checks, and credit transactions received before that will count toward an individual’s (or team's) total. To qualify, pledge forms and collected monies must be submitted before May 2nd. Submit to: WELS Lutherans for Life, Metro-Milwaukee; 8501 W. Lincoln Ave; West Allis, WI 53227 Some folks join church or school teams to compete for awards. (To be, fair only fulfilled pledges at the time of tallying the additional funds will count towards the award for total dollars raised.) * PRIZE qualifications: Everyone who raises the bracketed amount will be entered into a drawing for that level prize. Only one prize will be awarded per level. One prize per person. Winners will be announced in early June, after all personal sponsor funds have been collected. Still have questions?
